Tutorial ~ Yarn flowers

This year I have been paying attention to manufacturer releases that I like.. Tuesday Jillibean Soup showed off their new release of bean blossoms (shown below) and I fell in love! They seem like they would be the perfect embellishment for any card, canvas, or layout. I set to work straight away to make some to ease my instant gratification syndrome, and thought I would share my results with you. Check them out.

Aren't they the cutest? They kinda remind me of the lollipop torn flowers you see sometimes. I'm certain I will buy scores of these if I see them in my favorite online shopping stores once their available. I apologize now for blurriness, being out of the camera frame, and general oddities. :)

Cardabilities #22

I don't know what's come over me this year.
Maybe it's the passing of my mom.. maybe it's actually using my cricut products, but somewhere along the way over the last couple of weeks, I've become a card maker. I never have been very successful at making cards, but I do like to have them on hand in case I need one.
I saw the cardabilities sketch this morning and decided to whip up a card real quick.
I used the sun from the imagine more cart

and the word sunshine from the april showers cart.

I ended up turning the sketch... that sun is so cute.
LOL.. so much for being a card maker.. while sitting here I noticed the lil flowers are going upside down on the sass PP. pshaw.. me still likey. :)

I broke out my sass lass and i-rock for the gems too.
Hope your Tuesday is happy Sunshines!

me me me right now

this was for a challenge on tallyscrapper. the new year is bringing new management, and with it, new scrappers to get to know. the challenge was an 'about me' challenge.. mine took on a turn even i didn't see coming.

Edited to add: I am also submitting this layout to the SIF blog. My friend Christine is re-launching her beautiful challenge site, Scrap it forward. Come check it out.. she has great challenges.

Journaling reads: I'm 34. Born in July. i love liver & onions. I'm married to Doug. He loves me unconditionally. I'm lucky 2 have him. together => we have 3 fabulous, smart, witty, gorgeous children. My mom was my BFF. I lost her 11/30/10 unexpectedly. My heart is like a canyon.. ripped and torn right now... grieving the loss of my only parent. Dark. Trying to smile daily. to keep moving forward. Because whenever i hear/see anyone ask about wHo i am -> i think of my mom. so today 1/23/11. I'm an only child grieving the loss of her mom... and yet, still trying to be a good/great mama to her own younglings. Today... right now I'm sad... yet hopeful.

if my desk is dirty

it means I've been busy, which makes my heart truly soar.

I think Fedex knew I was waiting on that imagine to make it's way to my grubby lil hands.... it ended up arriving around 5:30pm Thursday, right in the middle of me starting on dinner.  It was SO fun to get it out of the box and get it calibrated. Ok, so the calibration part was NOT fun, but now that I know there's an advanced place to go to calibrate the machine, Leah's a happy camper. No biggie now.

I've made so many cuts, cards, etc with it testing and playing.. and the only thing I have to show for it is this canvas I made last night.  My children have begged, pleaded, and gave me puppy dog eyes for the sweet images I've been cutting out. It cuts SO much better than the expression did.  Don't know what I'm going to do with that now that I think about it, I don't have room to hold onto it. The imagine takes quite a big chunk out of my desk space.. space I had just been complaining about that I do not have enough of.

This is what my desk looked like last night as I hit the sack at 2am.
notice the paint on my imagine
it will wipe off easily I think.

I finally dug into some canvas the family bought me for my birthday last year, I used three 5x7 panels to make this.

It's hanging a bit funky.. I need to adjust the panels just a smidge, it's a total PITA. lol
Some close ups.

Popped up my birdies and heart.

Love the rock candy.. clear crackle. yum. and pearls and i-rock pretties.

I found out last night I won a prize pack from Imaginisce's blog.. their Animal Cracker new line!! So excited about that!! :) Thanks Imaginisce!

Hope your weekend is a good one! :)

WAHOOOOOO

I am so excited...
my brand new cricut should be here today!!
The waiting has been something shy of torture for me..
I ordered the Imagine last thursday on the 14th...
I have dreamt about creating with it two nights now, and boy lemme tell you, I wake up feeling TIRED.
I check the fedex site everyday with my tracking number. It bothers me when they don't update for a couple of days... le sigh... but giddy giddy feelings rush through me as I see THIS this morning.
Wanna dance with me?

It's on the way
yay yay yay
It's on it's way
today today!!!

Here's the first layout I've made since my mom passed.. It felt nice to create again.

Zombie squirrels in Pink

LOL My DD Sam and I were following the Pink Stampers first ever blog hop, and decided to join the challenge. Samantha is 5 and decided what we were going to create, which papers to use, and even the sentiment.. who doesn't love a pink squirrel.. especially pink squirrels that look like ZOMBIES! ;)

It was fun girl time together. Thank you Pink Stamper for the last two hours of blog hopping and pink zombie squirrel creating. :) We used Stretch you imagination cartridge, echo park be mine papers, and the imaginisce i rock tool for the zombie eyes. Ü

Here's a card I made for my cousin Gary and his new fiancee, Destiny.
The flower was made from using cut balloons with MTC, which i glued all together... I ADORE my new Martha Stewart bird punch. ♥

Hope you have a great weekend.

Onion Envie

I was surfing facebook per normal and saw a status from Scrapbook and Cards talking about an Onion Envelope. I clicked the link, and saw a tutorial on how to create one. Virginia Nebel's are so pretty, I just had to make one for my cousin Shelly. She and her husband Marc had baby Gabby two weeks ago. I can't wait to go see her... it's like different sicknesses/illnesses keep hopping from one Crowe member to the next... I am so ready for spring! lol

Anyways, the directions were clear, and mine came out right on the first try. I am happy. I even added some ribbon to mine to keep it closed. I left the picture adding to Shelly since she's starting to join the world of scrapbooking. :)

Here it is.

I just realized I need to really re-dress this blog. I have halloween dividers here for Pete's sake!! lol

Happy Birthday Mom

Today my Mom would have been 56.

I'm taking the kids today to go see her. I dropped in last night really quick to have a chat with her, and it was pitch black there.  None of the lights that shine on the statues were on... so making sure I go this afternoon to beat the darkness, just in case.

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." -Martin Luther King

I need to find something to keep my mind off her all the time... it doesn't take away the ache of missing her, just helps me be productive without the worry and heartache of it all... so I decided to finally get serious about being a good housewife.  I don't have to work, so my house should be clean, uncluttered, and have that homey feel it has been lacking. Not to mention, it's high time I get back to cooking at least 6 meals or more a week. I'm sick to death of take out.

I don't know where I saw it, but the Flylady popped into my radar yesterday, and I decided last night I would jump on the baby-steps bandwagon. I had actually heard of her in the past, but never wanted to take the time to shine my sink.  What was I thinking then? My sink looks fabulous!! I may need to clean the kool aide off my curtains, and use some elbow grease on that window sill, but my sinks look sparkly!

Shiny Sink

It doesn't help that I have over 2/3 of my Mom's crafting items in my house, and this pile here is in the dining area. It's taking up room I don't quite have. I need to get this moved to the garage, so I can get my house in order, and then maybe by then, I can take a breath and go through her crafty items.
Moms stuff

For Christmas, Doug got a home theater unit and a full swing tv mount.  We cleared out the sunroom a bit and turned it into a theater/family/game room.  All it's lacking now is a good carpet shampoo, an area rug in front of the furniture, and to hang some stuff up in there. (Some cleaning too.. but I'm not listing that today)

sunroom makeover

That green aphgan on the sofa is one my mom made me.. she was finishing it up to give to me this Christmas.  My aunt pat grabbed it from her house so she could finish it up for mom to give to me. I'm so happy to have it. Mom had been working on it going on two years from what Aunt Pat had told me.

More soon..
Love ya,
