Sunday butterfly love

The lovely Eva Dobilas has assembled a butterfly blog hop for today.  Have something with butterflies on it you created? Want to create something real quick with butterflies on it? You know, go make it, create your blog post, then head over to Eva's blog to LINK your post up. Lots of fun!!

Why do you love Butterflies???
They remind me of colorful flowers.. so graceful. so peaceful.
Butterflies are self propelled flowers.  ~R.H. Heinlein

I created this layout for Tallyscrappers Survivor challenge, and knew it would work well with Eva's blog hop for today. I bought a package of Hampton Art screens at Michaels last week.. ooolala.. me loves them! The package had things like this fab butterfly and chandelier in it... I need more of their screens because their fabulous. I masked the butterfly on white cardstock, then when I was done, I laid down my paper towel to 'pick up' the excess mist on the screen. That is how I got my snazzy big butterfly embellie.

Happy Birthday Samantha!!

Happy Birthday to Samantha!!
My little is six years old today.
It's so hard to believe my babies are growing up.
Last night she has her first school concert. My back was all messed up, so I'm thankful for the videos. I'll edit more later, but this song is sooo cute and touched my heart. Especially the children trying to whistle. ;)

Here's the small 4x4 canvas I made for her birthday
It's so true. Samantha finds joy in little things.. she teaches us so much.
Hope your Birthday is the bestest Samantha!!
Mommy loves you!

National pancake day

It was on March 1st. I really wanted pancakes that day.. and pretty ones.
For dinner, I decided to make rainbow pancakes.
Now I wish I had made yellow too.. but I really adore them.

The family was so surprised, and it made me happy to see the kids faces light up.
Totally worth it.
Just make your pancakes as normal, separate the batter into different bowls, and add food coloring.
Easy peasy.

What a good day!

Happy day my scrappin friends,

Firstly. I did not make the top 25 team over at G45.
On first whim, I was a little sad about it.
Why not me? Where was I lacking? What could I have done better?
Was my written application dorky? uncouth? (probably. lol)

But after I actually took a moment to let it sink in, I realized I learned a lot about even submitting to a Manufacturer. I poured hours into my 10 new projects. I have two new mini books, three new pieces of altered art that look fabulous in my home, and five new scrap layouts.

And because Julie W. told me to, I plan on seeing if they fit any categories for submitting to paper magazines over the next couple of days. :)
This was just one No. Who knows how close I may have been to making the cut?
I know there are so so many talented crafty people out there, and I'm holding no grudges.
I'll continue to support and use graphic 45, because I love their product.
That's another thing. I submitted, because I DO love their product.
I beat that horse good.. on to the fabulous news.

Today me and my she art girl was featured over on Paper Issues!
(yay yay yay)

and to add icing to the seriously sweet cake
Cassie asked if I would join the Paper Issues Team.
Paper Issues Blog Design
Be still my heart.. I love that blog, so I said YES!! *happy dance*

Go check out the current issue at PI and link up your projects.
Have a happy weekend!!

When I saw her face

I have always been a fan of mixed media.
Painty layers
on canvas with found objects
scrap embellishments
honest to goodness, goodness.

I made one for my mom last year for mothers day, and she had loved it.

I just had a problem understanding the background concept of a really super layered art journal or canvas.
Thanks to Christy Tomlinson's She Art Workshop, now i know.
and I am THRILLED!
yes sirree. :)
Do you see her little Le Cirque Graphic 45 dress?

Now, I know she's not perfect. I do see some funky things going on with her fatty arm with the butterfly tattoo, plus the poor girl can't see with eyes, but her heart can. Er.. my heart that is.

When I got to the part of the girl where i was painting her hair and face in, it all dawned on me.
she was a reflection of me. (she however is way cuter)
It was me remembering my mom. Lots of bittersweet tears this morning.
Creating art, in any medium, seems to really come from a different place if you let your heart free.
I realize that sounds mushy, sappy, UNtrue...
but it made a difference in how this piece of art turned out.
Now, I'm a believer.!

Thank you Bella Blvd!!!

Lookie what I got in the mail!!
I totally thought I had put this thank you up here, but looking back, I had not.
I was super duper lucky, and won all Bella Blvd's CHA Winter 2011 releases.
Scream with me
Phew. k.
Their ALL so cute.
Tail Waggers and Cat Naps

Then we have my two favorite papers from Family Dynamix

I used both of those today on a layout for Tally, will show in a bit.

You can see my little assistant in the upper frame, he really jumped for joy with this next line.

Mr. Boy
It is ALL that and a grass stained knee.. totally cute.

And Sophisticates
aren't the colors mouth watering?
Thank you so much Bella Blvd!! I LOVE all these lines.

Now, I dont' know if I've explained it to those of you who aren't on Tally. But whenever Survivor airs on T.V, we play over at Tallyscrapper, a scrap version. Nobody gets voted off the island per se.. until this week.
Cristal chose 5 players from EACH team (Team Russell GO TEAM RUSSELL!!! and lame-o Boston Rob BOOO boston rob) and sent them off to redemption island.

Our challenge this week on the island was from Nikki
Must use one of these words in the title: OUTWIT, OUTPLAY, OUTLAST
The color orange
and only 5 of each embellishment you put on your layout

Sound fun huh?
I thought so too. I went real whimsical with mine.

When I saw the words to be used in the title, I immediately thought of Cameron's birthday, and how we stayed at the park for hours playing. We outplayed all the parents there that day. lol I took my photos in Shape Collage and arranged them in the word Play, backed them on black cardstock and went from there.
I used 5 pattern papers, 5 stickers, and 5 pieces of ribbon.
I thought the ribbon kinda looked lil inch worms or caterpillars. ;)

You may not be able to clearly see them all, but there are over 100 photos that make up the word 'Play'.

Happy Wednesday and big hugs,
