Painty layers
on canvas with found objects
scrap embellishments
honest to goodness, goodness.

I made one for my mom last year for mothers day, and she had loved it.
I just had a problem understanding the background concept of a really super layered art journal or canvas.
Thanks to Christy Tomlinson's She Art Workshop, now i know.
and I am THRILLED!

JoYFUL!
HAPPY.
yes sirree. :)
Do you see her little Le Cirque Graphic 45 dress?
Now, I know she's not perfect. I do see some funky things going on with her fatty arm with the butterfly tattoo, plus the poor girl can't see with eyes, but her heart can. Er.. my heart that is.

When I got to the part of the girl where i was painting her hair and face in, it all dawned on me.
she was a reflection of me. (she however is way cuter)
It was me remembering my mom. Lots of bittersweet tears this morning.
Creating art, in any medium, seems to really come from a different place if you let your heart free.
I realize that sounds mushy, sappy, UNtrue...
but it made a difference in how this piece of art turned out.
Now, I'm a believer.!

This is so cute! My cousin is doing the same class, and totally loves it. I hope to do it the next go around in April!
