re-connecting with family

This morning my newspaper was late. I went out around 7:30 to check on it and it wasn't there. My mom is a paper carrier, so I called her to see when the papers were dropped off for delivery this AM. She didn't get them until after 6:30AM. I don't miss THAT a bit about being a paper carrier... having to deal with the phone calls "where is my paper?" or all the traffic because you're driving on the wrong side of the road... scary stuff. Anyways, I invited her and my step dad over for coffee and breakfast after they were done. I fed the kids a small snack to tide them over til around 9 until I could start cooking breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash, and pancakes. So yummy. Made it even better to share it with family we don't see often enough.

After that it was outside to enjoy the weather. Papaw worked with Cameron on pedaling some more on his bike. He actually started pedaling a bit... twas SO exciting. I was sitting down and NOT snapping pictures.... enJOYing the moment. Katelyn & Doug were tossing the football and dogs ball back n forth. I swear they almost took out a couple eyes in the process. lol

After that, we decided to call Papaw Crowe in Kentucky. He was happy to hear from us. We talked for a good hour, then decided to get the web-cam going again. We had been waiting on him to buy new speakers and re-install it for months and months... he surprised us with the idea to use the web-cam. Samantha just giggled and giggled seeing her papaw. It's been 18 months since we had seen him. (besides photos here) What a blast.

Katelyn got to show off her mad trumpet skillz... Samantha sang and showed off her babies... Doug and the kids showed off my scrapping decorations. Hoping this is something we continue to do regularly. The weekend flew by, but it was great because of all the family time spent together.

Hope your weekend was good!
